Denver Zoo

Sara, Angie and I got all the kids together at the zoo today to check it out.  It was one of the nicer zoos that I've been to and the kids loved it because they had some unusual animals and a train ride.

Lu Lu and Wyatt, her first crush.  She was showing off for him all day!

beauty shop fun

Today was Edy's first of many to come visits to the beauty shop.  She thought it was so fun.  There were suckers involved, stickers and she got to watch a movie of choice while she was being pampered.  As you can see, her hair was...well...a mess!  So we just shaped it up a little.

Estes Park

We took a Sunday drive today and wound up in Estes Park.  It reminded me a lot of Gatlinburg, TN with all the touristy shops, fudge factories and wood carvings.  They were having a weekend festival so we walked around long enough to grab an ice cream cone and head home for dinner.

The BIG 2!

We went to Sea World in San Antonio for Edy's birthday.  The kids were really excited about it until we actually got there and it was 112 degrees, seriously.  It was so miserable that we walked in the gates, went to see Shamu and walked right back out.  The best part about Sea World was leaving and going to get an ice cream cone on the way home!  When we got home we cooled off in the pool and tried out the moves we learned from Shamu until it was time for din din.

potato poopy casserole requested by the birthday girl for dinner followed by the cake she picked out with sprinkles, yum yum.

my, how things have changed in the last two years!  happy birthday edy mae!

guadalupe river

we tied up our tubes, mine, kort's and the cooler's and down the river we went with all the college kids, over three rapids and twists and turns.  we floated about three hours until we found our bus stop managing to stay in our tubes, using our flip flops as paddles.  what a great weekend we had!

Rule # 1: do not throw up

my favorite place EVER!

Gruene Hall, Gruene, TX
The oldest dance floor in Texas famous for many well-known artists starting careers there and also parts of Hope Floats and Michael were filmed there.  The moment I walked in I knew I loved the place and didn't want to leave.  It had so much character and history, hopefully, I'll get back there soon for a visit!

for dinner we went to the gristmill that sits behind gruene hall and had one of the most scrumptious meals ever finished with dessert that on the menu read:  created by a waitress who once went on a dessert binge :-)  it really was sooo good.
