I scream, you scream...

We, as in myself, Lucy, Edy, Sara, Ethan, Savanna, Angela and Emeline (who were visiting Sara from MN.) drove about an hour west to Brenham (all in one car by the way!)to take a tour of the Blue Bell factory...we heard they had free samples, ha! It was a lot of fun, but cameras were not allowed. We watched a little movie clip of how Blue Bell got started and their history, which was really neat and then we toured the factory where it all comes together. They were in the process of making chocolate cookie dough balls to put in the cookie dough ice cream, yum. But the best part is the end of the tour when you get a free cup of ice cream!!! I had birthday cake, which was amazing. It was as if you were at a birthday party and got a scoop of ice cream and cake on your plate and mixed it together and froze it, really good.

In front of their first "refrigerated" truck way back when.

Sharing some strawberry ice cream.

The kids in front of the famous cow and girl with their ice cream parlor hats on!

Out in the Texas hill country...

After visiting the creamery we drove a little further down the road to LaGrange to go to this farm. The drive alone was worth it, rolling hills through small old towns and bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush galore, b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! We had the best time and the kids absolutely loved it. We got to feed goats, chickens, pigs, bunnies, etc. The girls fed the calves bottles of milk and Lucy milked a cow! They had a hay maze, bluebonnet fields, we went for a hay ride and topped it off with another ice cream cone! We had such an amazing day and I can't wait to go back!

This is "Belle" the actual cow they use on TV for all the Blue Bell ice cream commercials!

Feeding the goats, Lucy wasn't so sure about it.

Lucy feeding the calf, she did so good!

Unfortunately, this calf yanked the bottle away from Edy!

Part of the farm, bluebonnets and hay maze.

The bluebonnets we saw the other day didn't compare to this, they weren't half as thick. Is this gorgeous or what? Whoever is reading this blog is going to be sick of the bluebonnet talk and pictures by the end of May, I'm obsessed with them!

Sitting on the front porch enjoying some rainbow sherbert and more birthday cake, what a day, I tell ya!

Houston Childrens' Museum

We went to the childrens' museum today to get out and about since the weather cancelled our plans for the zoo. Although, this was definitely not a disappointment, it was really cool. The kids were in heaven playing with all the "kid size" things like super markets, animal vet hospital, diner, cars and gas stations, etc. We'll be back here soon for sure :-)

This actually is just a "play" diner, it was so real!

Doorbells, light switches, locks at their level, what fun!

Just taking a Sunday drive.

wee!

Fill 'er up.

Home for dinner.

Playing in the water, they got absolutely soaked!

Bluebonnets are blooming!

The Texas state flower, bluebonnets, have started showing their petals along the roadsides and alike. They're in bloom from March to May and are the perfect backdrop for photos. We're planning on taking professional photos in a couple of weeks so I was out scouting out the scenery and happened upon a park with a beautiful field of bluebonnets! I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. They're absolutely gorgeous!
