The circus is in town! And we didn't want to miss this:

a visit from Kansas
My brother, Jamie and Charlie came over for a long weekend to visit and camp in the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was a gorgeous weekend, it's bugling season for the elk, who were scattered everywhere, including the campground. There was snow at the top of the mountain range and the leaves on the trees had turned that beautiful golden color that just instantly makes you want a slice (or two) of pumpkin pie. Oh, does that not happen to you? Anyway, it was so nice to have family here and am looking forward to more visits.

fall is in the air...and on the ground!
October first we hit up the pumpkin patch right after I picked up Lucy from her first day of school!!! The pumpkin patch was open and just waiting to be picked. The only problem was the weather. It was freezing cold and unbearably windy. We were able to cut one pumpkin off the vine, throw it in the car and get home as fast as we could to bundle up. Such a beautiful sight, though, you could spot the big orange patch from way up the highway. First time I had seen pumpkins still on the vine, which was cool.

no boys allowed!
Sara, Angie, Lindsey and I enjoyed a quiet...well, maybe not so quiet, but relaxing and fun weekend sans kids and husbands. We escaped to the mountains to a winery/spa/cabin. There was no tv, no radio, no cell service, no phone in our room, no whining, crying, cooking dinner or wiping butts, just us, a few good bottles of wine, a deck of cards, a lot of laughs and great memories. We had a fantastic weekend and I can't wait to do it again in November!

fashion diva in the works
Lucy has started demanding that she pick out her clothes and coordinate outfits. I don't want her looking like a doofus, but I do want her to have a personality of her own, so I let her have at it...and this is what she came up, not too bad, eh?!

camping in the rockies
These pictures are from a few different camping trips we took in the Rockies. We really enjoyed the getaways and ever since then the girls have been pretending to camp, run from bears and roast marshmallows instead of playing babies, too funny.
